The First Blogger Recognition Award in 2016

It’s a funny thing when you have your WordPress app set to send you notifications on your phone. I mainly use it to reply to comments in a timely manner. Admittedly I do not use it to write on as…well it leaves quite a bit to be desired. But imagine my surprise when my phone goes off in the middle of the store while looking for the toilet paper. The app merrily told me that I was linked to another blog.

“Well, that’s neat!” I thought as I proceeded to scan the entry I was linked to and then paused. Apparently, the lovely folks over at Yahari Bento nominated me (me of all people!) for an award. If you haven’t read any of the posts under Yahari Bento, you are truly missing out. Their site also includes analysis on Light Novels which is very nice and an area that is sorely needed in the anime/manga fandom especially since the market just figured out that we’re also willing to read actual books

I am not sure I am worthy of it but I am terribly honored none the less. So in accordance with the Rules  I shall:

  1. Display Award (It’s up there see?!)
  2. Thank the person who gave you this award (and include a link to her/his blog).
  3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  4. Give two pieces of advice for new bloggers.
  5. Nominate 15 bloggers

How my blog started?

Honestly? I like writing and I’ve found that in the course of my years that I don’t think the way people typically expect. So I thought others could also get a kick out of reading my thought processes and I’d get to practice my writing as well. So after looking into several options I ended up here on WordPress. Though I haven’t been able to update as often as I’d like I am happy to say that I am getting back into the groove now that life is slowing back down.

Advice for new bloggers?

Get research and exposure put into practice.

Don’t be afraid to learn something new even if it seems like it has nothing to do with what you’re doing/ interested in.

NEVER be afraid of learning especially if it’s from something outside of your comfort zone. When you become informed you’ll start to look at things differently. You’ll even look BACK at things you thought you understood before and see something new. This helps in producing a well-rounded individual. Becoming well rounded is a choice and I feel it’s one we can ill afford to ignore when we’re putting ourselves out here on this world stage (no matter how small our corner might be) and attempting to remain relevant. Our world is connected in ways you wouldn’t believe. It’s easier to make connections when you spread your mental feelers into other areas. Your understanding and experience of the world will become richer and when you write/ vlog about it people will feel it and respond in kind. You’ll see that my 15 choices reflect this thought process as they are not all one thing…but then if you read my Bio page you’d know to expect that…

Within the same line of thought, Exposing yourself to new experiences go hand in hand with this.

In the age of the internet, we have no excuse as writers and vloggers to not have a means of gaining exposure. Not just for spreading our words, thoughts, and experiences but for experiencing the words and thoughts and experiences of others. This exchange is very close to my first bit of advice but becomes more than simply researching and watching. This one entails *doing* when one gets the chance.
